Specifications︰ | FEATURES: ¡¤ Clean data each byte of data sent into a SR296 on one end of a link comes out the far end. No dribble bits, no missing header bits. Exactly the same data on each end. ¡¤ Store-and-Forward Repeating The SR296 modem may be programmed to automatically forward transmissions through one or more intermediate stations. This allows SR296 modems to automatically repeat transmissions from units that may be out of range with others in the network, filling in blind-spots and widening the coverage. ¡¤ Distance Synchronous data recovery and intelligent reverse error correction help extend the usable range out to the very fringes of the system. ¡¤ Data Rate Operating at an over the air data rate of 4800 bps, the SR296 Wireless Modem delivers high data rates to the user with a minimum of system overhead. To increase the network efficiency, the serial port may be operated at speeds up to 19200 baud. ¡¤ Synthesized radio frequencies allow easy configuration without the need to install channel crystals. Noise Immunity Radio systems operating near electrical and RF noise sources can benefit from the SR296's error recovery techniques. ¡¤ Asymmetrical Data Rates The data rate of the RS-232 interface on each SR296 unit may be set independently, thus allowing two devices with different data rates to communicate with each other. ¡¤ Data Buffer The SR296 wireless modem comes standard with input and output FIFO data buffers. The FIFO buffers internal to the modem allow communicating devices to send their data at high data rates. ¡¤ Connection Integrity Each byte of data sent between two radios utilizing the SR296 modem is covered by a 16-bit CRC error check, thus ensuring that a byte received on the one end is the same as the one that entered the other end. ¡¤ Built-in RS-232 Interface The serial interface can be configured to use TTL/CMOS levels or RS-232 signal levels. The SR296's serial interface is a standard 9-pin D-subminiature connector. External Programming All features, frequencies, and options in the SR296 may be configured via the RS-232 serial port. ¡¤ Multi-Point Addressing A SR296 wireless modem can be programmed with one of up to 65,536 ID codes. This individual addressing allows them to send and receive data between individual units or "groups" and "subgroups" of SR296 modems. ¡¤ Auto-Transmit The unit automatically keys the transmitter and sends data whenever a presetable number of data bytes is loaded into it's transmit data buffer. ¡¤ Base Station A Base Station version of the SR296 is available. It is similar to the standard modem, except it has special firmware which allows polling of remote units and also identifies the origin of incoming data packets.
